About Us
Established in 2010, Grimes Volunteer Support Services (GVSS) assists seniors, those with special needs, and/or individuals with a physical disability, so they can remain in their homes.
As an all-volunteer organization, GVSS relies on the generosity of the community to fulfill the requests of its clients.
How it started...
GVSS began as a service project out of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Grimes, Iowa. The former pastor, Reverend Percy Kvitne, needed transportation assistance and Harley Otto starting driving him. They “roped” Jay Brewer into turning this client-volunteer package into a 501(c)(3) and Grimes Volunteer Support Services was born!
